I really don't like asterisks. They imply something that I don't like. It's like, "You've won a million dollars! * " In fine print some where it tells you the bad news. Barry Bonds just hit number 755 tonight. Some of the fans held up signs with of an asterisk. Implying that his past possible steroid use is the reason why he hit number 755. No matter where you stand on that issue, I have a question for you.

Is there an asterisk by your name? What could it mean? Lousy tipper? Can keep a confidence? Talks big, but does little? Watch him around money? Do not give her any authority? Now you may say, "How rude!" Well let me ask you this? Don't you have an opinion about most people you know, placing your own mental asterisk by their name?

What's my point? In Matthew 7:12 it says, "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,..." My point being if you don't want people to put an asterisk by your name, don't put one beside theirs. There is only way that I know how to do this. Love them more than you love your own opinion. Even though your actions with them may have to be prudent. It doesn't mean that you cannot love them as Jesus does.

In heaven if there is an asterisk by your name, it can only mean one of two things. Sinner or Child of God. You see whatever Jesus' opinion is about you - He still chooses to love you anyway. Stop right now and thank God for that. Now find someone to love just as much - you will discover it really isn't as hard as you thought it was.

Today is Mothers Day.  On this day:  More people purchase fresh flowers and plants for Mother's Day than for any other holiday except Christmas/Hanukkah. In 2019, the National Retail Federation (NRF) estimates that US consumers will spend $25 billion celebrating Mother's Day. Shoppers will spend an average of $196.00 on Mom. Betty doesn’t like me blogging about her too much. So let me go with one more for now and let you see a bit of her heart.  She doesn’t like the world any better now than when she gave birth to Anneka. (Neither do I.)   If you think that’s a strange thing to say, you’re right. But let me explain myself.  The idea that a child will make your world a better place isn’t accurate. Stop shouting at the screen. Just keep reading.   Before we got pregnant, both of us had enough wisdom to understand what we were doing, in as much as we knew that this would change our lives.  Would it be for the better? That was the plan.  Would it enrich our lives? We hoped so.   But to think that a child would turn our world into a magical place of perfection and joy was never a thought.   If anything, the world worked against us from day one. (Still is.)
