In The Good Ol' Summer Time

It's hot in South Florida.  No, I'm not complaining because everyone here knows that any day without a hurricane is a good day.

It feels like 96 degrees outside and that the sun would if given a chance, would fry you like an egg.   That's because it would.

On occasion, I go to Wal-Mart or Walgreens to get something.  Around 4 in the afternoon there is usually someone in the pharmacy trying to find something to sooth their, "tan."  Let's be honest here.  They look like a lobster, and they are in some serious pain.  Immediately you think, "They're not from around here."  Summertime in Florida isn't the same as everywhere else.  It's intense!

Often times we take the same approach to God and church.  We think everything is the same.  True God is always the same, and He never changes.  But we are not, therefore, what God is doing in our lives today isn't the same as what He is doing for someone else.

Isa 43:19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

What does this mean to you?

Don't look at what God is doing in someone else's life.  Comparing your life to someone else is always fatal.

Look at what God is doing and get on board with it.  It is easier than trying to get God to bless your mess.

The grass isn't greener on the other side of the fence.  God will do a new thing where you are at, you don't have to manufacture something, "just because."

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, help me to see what new thing you are doing in my life today.  AMEN

PS  If you are visiting South Florida and you want to work on your tan.  Please use sunscreen and don't lay out in the sun for hours.  It's either that or I'll see you in the pharmacy section of Wal-Mart.
