These are not purposes, they are goals. When I point out the difference between the two and press the question I usually get the proverbial deer in the headlight look.
What is a purpose? One definition says, “Your life purpose consists of the central motivating aims of your life—the reasons you get up in the morning.”
“A goal is a desired result or possible outcome that a person or a system envisions, plans and commits to achieve: a personal or organizational desired end-point in some sort of assumed development.”
When you focus on goals, even if they are worthy, and fail to understand your purpose it will cause you to lose the meaning of life. The wife and mother who gives everything for her family but is unfulfilled or the husband who works to be a great provider but doesn’t know why.
Ps 57:2 I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.
#1 Know that God created you with a great purpose in mind. You are very valuable to Him.
#2 Understand that His purpose for your life will not only fulfill His will but it will satisfy yours too.
#3. Purposes are not hard to find, but you do have to pay attention to God.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to discover Your purpose for my life today. AMEN
