Praying and Fasting - Why?

Prayer Changes Life - that is a fact.

But what kind of change are you seeking?

Because of our sinful nature, we are naturally selfish.  There is that inner child within you who wants something NOW - RIGHT NOW!  I've seen this at the car lot as a grown man says, "But I NEED the $1,000 chrome grill upgrade on my new truck."  I've heard this in a shoe store.  "But I NEED these $100 shoes to impress my boss with."

Prayer and Fasting as a tremendous impact on your inner man. It checks that selfish part of you and helps you to make wise decisions. When you make wise decisions, it brings life to you and your family.

James 1:5  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

If you want to have wisdom in your life #1 - Know where to get it.  (Hint:  It isn't at Wal-Mart.) God has all the wisdom you need.  All you have to do is ask for it.

#2 Listen to God.  That's what fasting will help you do.  Stop and listen.  Wisdom is all around you if, and this is a big one, you turn off the noise of your world.

#3 Trust wisdom.  The difference between knowledge and wisdom is - Knowledge knows what to do - wisdom applies it.  Many people know what to do but don't have the courage to do it.  Trust God - He will not give you bad wisdom.

PRAY:  Lord, help me to make wise decisions today.  Decisions that bring life and hope to my family and me.  AMEN.
