Respond - Like A Boss
Turn off the political rhetoric and put your faith in God. The Psalmist said, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3. God is STILL in control.
Next, you may be confronted by people, who in this state of fear, will make assumptions about you. This election cycle involved a lot of name calling from both sides so don't be surprised if you get called something a little unkind. How do you respond?
#1 John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.”
But what if they say I am their enemy? Remember Matthew 5:44 "But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," Jesus' words in both passages.
Show them love in the face of their fear.
#2 Tell them! "You have nothing to fear from me." Reassure them that their politics has never changed your relationship with them. You may need to make some loving gesture to prove your words. Do not allow politics to guide your relationships. Let the love of Jesus shine through.
