Did Love Fail You?

Valentines day is great - as long as you're not single.

I love this quote: I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon. ---Author Unknown

The world presents love to us as fleeting, difficult, easy to lose, hard to find and down right impossible to keep.

Nothing could be farther from the truth, but then again - are we talking about the same thing?  Compare the following statements, "I love pizza." with,  "I love my wife."  Both are true, but they are not the same.

If you want love in your life, then understand 1 John 3 where it tells us that God is love.  No this isn't some kind of cosmic, ethereal, spiritual kind of love.  It's the real deal!  If you want to know real love - you need to know God.

In a world where people are abused, tortured, berated and divorced the name of love.  I can understand how it would be hard for you to understand the love of God!  His love will never fail you!  His love will never abuse or hurt you.  God will always love you!

None of us are perfect and that means how we express our love is also imperfect.  But when God's love is in our heart it's goal is to give, not receive.  Selfishness isn't a form of love, it's a form of self love.  There are plenty of people out there who know how to suck the life out of you.  But when you find someone in your life who gives, without expecting anything in return, then you know that their source isn't you, it's God.  Their well of love will never go dry.
