Which Road Are You On? Part 2

As I promised yesterday I am going to share with you a road for your life that neither starts at birth nor ends in death. Interested? Well here goes.

Jesus came to this world to give mankind the opportunity to restore their relationship with the Heavenly Father. A relationship that was destroyed by Adam and Eve through their sin. (Gen. 3) Jesus took our sins and thus gave us the ability to restore our relationship with God through the cross. Where did this happen you ask? It happened at the cross. (John 3:16)

In John 3 Jesus has a conversation with a guy named Nicodemus. In verse 3 He declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” A new birth? Obviously Jesus wasn't talking about starting over on the road from birth to death. But He is talking about a new birth that starts us down a new road. A road that starts at the cross and ends at the rapture. (We will get to that in a minute.)

This road is completely different that the road from Birth to Death. First of all, death isn't a problem any more. Oh we will still die, but we know what happens next. If we are no long in this body, that means that we are present with God. (Win - Win) Paul even goes on to note that the grave has no victory any more. (1 Corinthians 15:55; 2 Corinthians 5:7-9) So now that we have the whole D E A D thing out of the way - what are we living for?

The Rapture - True you don't find the word in the Bible. It was coined in the early 1700's to describe 1 Thessalonians 4:16 - 17. "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." Get the picture?

All of the New Testament encourages us to live for this day. Not the day that we die. No last minute death bed conversions. We don't take risks with our salvation and relationship with Jesus. Because in the time it takes for you to blink and eye, you will be in the presence of Jesus. Now think about that for a minute. Suddenly without warning you will be standing before Jesus! What you gonna say?

Tomorrow - How people try to take short cuts on their road to heaven.
